REPORT: COVID’s Impact on Philadelphia Children – Aug 2022

Aug 8, 2022

The height of the COVID pandemic has passed, but the prolonged impact on children and
teens will be felt for years to come.

A new report by Children First, COVID’s Impact on Philadelphia Children: The Case for an Ambitious Rebound, reveals just how deeply Philadelphia’s young people were hurt by the pandemic and what steps must be taken to start to heal the city’s children.

COVID took a tremendous toll on children and teens, dramatically affecting their mental health, K-12 and early education, and security. The early data reported in COVID’s Impact on Philadelphia Children: The Case for an Ambitious Rebound is already alarming, and long-term consequences – compounded by spikes in gun violence and inflation – will continue to hurt children’s life chances unless Pennsylvania leaders take aggressive action.

Lower Travel Costs!  Options are available.

The Mayor’s proposed tax on ride share companies will protect public schools and ensure students have the resources they deserve. If ride share companies choose to pass these costs directly onto riders, there are options for individuals with disabilities to help lower their travel costs.
