Join us for 2026 Celebration honoring Donna Cooper.

Children First works to improve the outcomes of Hispanic Children in Philadelphia by collaborating with multiple organizations and individuals to take concrete action on recommendations in early childhood, K-12 education, and healthcare.

In March of 2024, the  “Pa’Lante – State of Hispanic Children” report showed how Hispanic children are navigating the inequities, hostilities, and lack of care from the systems and institutions charged with creating a fair environment for all children to excel.

In 2026 the report is now in the process of a year-long effort focused on engaging multiple organizations and Hispanic leaders across Philadelphia around an ‘Action Agenda’ that will bring the recommendations made in the report into implementation efforts with various organizations and communities across the City.

Timeline of Project Activities:

  • Winter 2025/2026: Individual and community conversations to update and rank the existing recommendations made in the Pa’Lante report.
  • Spring 2026: Working retreats with those willing to update, divide, and activate collaborative teams on each one of the recommendations.
  • Summer 2026: Feedback from stakeholders and creation of tools that will help manage the agenda.
  • Fall 2026: Launch of an Action Agenda with ongoing efforts.

Supporting this work will be a cohort of Community Fellows who represent the diverse segments of the Latino community across Philadelphia. These individuals will tap into their professional and lived experience to lend skills and expertise to this work.
