Children are our New Year’s Resolution, Dec 31, 2020

Tomorrow, many of us will pledge ourselves to New Year’s resolutions—eating better, exercising, a new hobby, or finishing that book that’s been collecting dust on the nightstand. This year, more than most, is starting off with such enthusiasm that we hope does not dwindle over time.

Topping off our New Year’s resolutions is reversing the Wolf Administration decision that has caused at least 154 child care centers across the five counties to close and is putting hundreds more at risk of shutting their doors. This decision means that parents can’t go to work and the critical first five years of a child’s development is at risk.

We kick off the year with some very powerful allies.  Democratic leaders and members of the Pennsylvania Legislative Woman’s Health Caucus and the Southeast Delegation of the Pennsylvania House Democratic Caucus are joining our call to the Governor to restore child care reimbursements for the sake of working families and the youngest residents of our state. It is also one of the most powerful anti-poverty policy tools we can implement. This is an opportunity for you to renew your commitment to early childhood programming.”

On January 1st, we will rededicate ourselves to our advocacy for children and families, and that’s a resolution we can guarantee won’t ever fade.
