Nell Duke, Ed.D., is an internationally recognized expert on early literacy development, particularly among children living in poverty. A professor of literacy, language, and culture at the University of Michigan, her work focuses on development of informational reading and writing in young children, comprehension development and instruction in early schooling, and issues of equity in literacy education. She has published numerous journal articles and has written books for parents and teachers of children from birth to 5 through the primary grades.
