This past Friday, over 3,000 employees with the SchoolDistrict of Philadelphia were given pink slips.

The district says without these cuts, there is no way to make up for the $300 million budget deficit.

Teachers, counselors and aides are all on the chopping block.

Yesterday, a group of education advocates, parents, and students went to City Hall and Harrisburg to have their voices heard.

Ravi Giberson is one of those students. He is a 5th grader at Cook-Wissahickon Elementary. Ravi, his mom Trisette and his brother joined Mike this morning to talk about these cuts.

Mike was also joined by Donna Cooper, who is with the Public Citizens for Children & Youth.

They discuss the implications of having programs cut and why they took their message all the way to the Pennsylvania capitol.
