Free Eye Screenings and Glasses – Philadelphia Inquirer – April 13, 2013

Free vision exams and glasses for children who cannot afford them will be offered at Wills Eye Institute on Saturday, the annual mass screening day that typically attracts more than 1,000 children and their parents.

Walk-in registration (no appointments) for children 18 and under runs from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Jefferson’s Alumni Hall at 10th and Locust Streets, followed by vision screenings and, if necessary, more detailed medical exams and selection of glasses in nearby buildings. Interpreters will be available for Spanish, Mandarin, Vietnamese, and several other languages.

Eyeglasses will be made free at Visionworks’ facility in Newtown Square and mailed within two weeks. Other sponsors are Public Citizens for Children and Youth, Eagles Youth Partnership, Wills Eye, and Jefferson.
