Support the Family Care Act

Without paid family and medical leave, millions of PA workers risk their jobs and their financial security in order to care for a new baby, a sick family member, or their own health. The PA Senate is considering legisation to create an affordable paid leave program so employees don’t lose their jobs, families are cared for, and employers can attract and retain workers in this tight economy. Tell your PA senator to invest in the child care system

The PA House passed a state budget that puts nearly $20 million into strengthening the child care and pre-k system so more parents have access to affordable care, and providers can afford to recruit and retain employees. But the PA Senate has not finalized a budget – which they must do by the end of the June. Send a message to your state senator telling them to include the child care dollars passed by the House and supported by Governor Shapiro. (5/27/26)

Two Before Two: Early Testing for Lead Poisoning

HB 916, the Childhood Blood Lead Test Action, is poised to be voted on by the full House of Representatives. This legislation increases the chances that children will be tested twice in their first two years of life for lead poisoning. Early detection = early intervention and fewer complications from the uncurable effects of lead poisoning. Contact your state representative and tell them to support HB 916. (5/27/26)
