Elementary Students to Say Thank You to City Council President Darrell Clarke and Council Members – October 28, 2015

فيلادلفيا (October 28, 2015) – In partnership with PCCY, a group of students from an area elementary school will be visiting Philadelphia City Council on Thursday, October 29th to say thank you to Council President Clarke and all members of Council for meeting their commitment to increase local funding for the district by $70 million and for transferring the final $25 million to the school district for the current school year.

Last June, Council adopted a budget that shifted $70 million to the district, of which $25 million was held back for fall Council action. Since 2009, City Council increased funding for the school district by $400 million.

Council’s action to transfer the funds comes at a critical time given the state’s historic levels of cuts to the district and the current budget impasse.
